with its rich tradition can be traced back to Baroque masterworks by Jan Dismas
Zelenka, Classical compositions by Franz Krommer, Jan Vaclav Antonin Stamitz
and his sons Carl and Anton, Johann Baptist Vanhal, and Romantic music by
Antonin Dvorak and Bedrich Smetana. These are just
a few names from a list of composers whose compositions became widely
recognized and programmed in concerts of leading orchestras and chamber groups.
Because of my
keen interest in contemporary music and love for Czech music, my doctoral
research specialized in “Contemporary Czech Oboe Music: A Survey of Works from
the Moravian Region of the Czech Republic Written Since 1969.”
I have given
recitals featuring Czech music at the International Double Reed Society
Conferences (2005, 2007, and 2010) and published an article summarizing my
findings and an interview with leading Czech oboe scholar, Miroslav Hosek, in
the IDRS Journal.
In 2010, I
performed at the Czech and Slovak Music and Related Arts Conference, among
other works a world premiere of Karel Husa’s Four Bohemian Sketches.
In 2011, a
compact disc the “Czech and Moravian Oboe Music” was released by Centaur
Records and features works by lesser known composers Pavel Masek, Jiri Teml,
Edvard Schiffauer, Pavel Cotek, Joseph Fiala, Ctirad Kohoutek, and Lubomir
newest compact disc "Petr Eben: Chamber Music for Oboe" was released on the Toccata Classics label on June 3, 2013.
